Member Profile: Brian Reece
When did you join Point Positive?
I joined in the summer of 2024, excited to connect with others who care about strengthening the Adirondack economy by supporting entrepreneurs building businesses in the region.
What drew you to the organization?
Point Positive's mission to support entrepreneurs in the Adirondacks not just with capital, but with mentorship. The mix of advising young businesses, investing, and community building align closely with both my passions and professional experience.
What part of being a member investor do you like most?
I really enjoy connecting directly with founders and learning from other members. I've been impressed by the level of entrepreneurial passion and dedication to high-quality products. It's also been eye-opening to see the variety of challenges businesses face operating in the Adirondacks.
What types of organizations do you lean toward investing in?
I prefer organizations with founders who have proven product-market fit, with paying customers and a full-time commitment to their business. I'm especially drawn to teams with a clear sense of purpose who prioritize craft, quality, and improving people's lives through what they're building.
What businesses have you participated in, whether mentoring or financial investment?
I've worked with early-stage founders in food & beverage and tech, and invested in consumer brands that want to scale, leveraging craft/quality and innovation. I'm especially interested in helping teams grow sustainably by using data and customer insights to improve how they operate.
Where do you see Point Positive in 5 to 10 years?
In the next 5 to 10 years, I see Point Positive becoming a real enabler of growth, talent, and entrepreneurial community in the Adirondacks. I hope we're known not just for the companies we support, but for how those businesses create jobs and develop talent in the region.
What's your vision for the Greater Adirondack Region?
My vision is for the Adirondacks to keep thriving by leaning into what makes this place so special: the natural beauty, the people, and the strong sense of community. I'd love to see more people choose to live here not just because it's a great place to be, but because they can build meaningful, successful businesses with local talent and resources.
